Book Review: The Treasure Principle by Randy Alcorn

The Treasure Principle: Unlocking the Secret of Joyful GivingThe Treasure Principle: Unlocking the Secret of Joyful Giving by Randy Alcorn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My good friend Phil Morgan had given high praise for this book a few years ago at church and I should have taken advantage of the time to read it then because I would have put into practice then what I know now.

I understand the teaching from Scripture concerning tithing and have experienced personal difficulty because I had fallen behind in my commitment to tithe to the Lord. When I returned to diligently tithing, those financial difficulties that were immediately a problem, went away.

In the book, there is this statement that really struck me concerning tithing. On page 64 the author said concerning tithing, "Tithing isn't the ceiling of giving; it's the floor." This gave me a whole new perspective that's been corrected for sure. Tithing is really the starting point of giving and not the end.

I especially like the explanation of Ecclesiastes 5:10-15 of each verse too.

I loved reading this short book and now want our entire congregation to read it too.
